Whiskey Reviews: Makers Mark 101 Proof Bourbon Whiskey (2020 Whiskey Review)
Since its introduction in 1954, Maker’s Mark has been synonymous with small-batch bourbons, offering a modest but splendid range that both new and seasoned drinkers can enjoy. The latest to join their venerable line is a high-proof small-batch bourbon is the Maker's Mark 101 Bourbon Whiskey. This bourbon whiskey takes everything that made their redheaded whiskey so great and made it just a little bit better. The Maker's Mark 101 Bourbon Whiskey is distilled from the same mash consisting of 70% corn, 16% red winter wheat, and 14% malted barley. The whiskey spends six years aging in new American oak barrels before being bottled at 101 proof and given their signature red wax seal.
Once in the glass, this bourbon yields an inviting aroma of apple, vanilla, and caramel followed by hefty notes of oak, burnt caramel, more vanilla, butterscotch, and toasted nuts on the palate. Then they all come together into a long, dry finish with lingering cinnamon spice. Send a very traditional bourbon that is an absolute pleasure to sip to friends, family, colleagues, or acquaintances. Either as a standalone bourbon gift or as part of a lavish bourbon gift set, let them enjoy this exceptional whiskey from a premier small-batch bourbon brand. It's very smooth and unbelievable so given it's strength of 101 Proof. Very sippable and a clean intoxicating taste. You'll want more, but be careful, it's powerful and may sneak up on you. Enjoy it. One of the best bourbons we have had in a long time. If you like Maker’s 46, you’ll definitely enjoy this. I suggest pouring it over a rock. Once the ice melts a bit, the flavour and smoothness is perfect. Great buy!
